La Cocina Food Box | Reheat Instructions | 08-21-2020

These reheat instructions apply to the La Cocina Community Food Boxes delivered on August 21st, 2020.

1. Old Damascus Fare

Babaghanoush and Hummus

Babaghanoush: Grilled eggplant mixed with walnuts, red pepper, garlic, parsley, olive oil, and pomegranate molasses. Hummus: Chickpeas with tahini, lemon, and olive oil.

Allergen: Walnuts

Instructions: Refrigerate and serve cold. Good for up to 5 days.

2. Bake Love

Kickass Cookies

Oats, vegan chocolate chips, organic coconut sugar, organic almond butter, walnuts, brazil nuts

Allergen: Tree Nuts

Instructions: Keep cookies in an airtight container up to 2 weeks

3. Reem’s California

Reem's Pita Bread

Allergen: Gluten

Instructions: No reheating necessary. Wrap in sealed plastic, room temperature, use within 2 days. Or freeze, and use within 3 months.

Reem's Muhammara

Red pepper, walnut, harissa chili, garlic, olive oil, lemon, panko, pomegranate molasses, salt

Allergen: Wheat, Walnuts

Instructions: No reheating necessary. Serve at room temperature. Keep chilled. Use within 2 weeks

4. Estrellita’s Snacks

Chicharron Bean and Cheese Pupusas

Salvadoran corn masa flatbreads filled with chicharron, beans and cheese.

Allergen: Dairy

Instructions: Place in microwave for 2-3 minutes; or transfer content to skillet and heat on low, 3 minsKeep chilled or frozen.  Use within 6 days after thaw

Spinach + Cheese Pupusa with Curtido Slaw

Salvadoran corn masa flatbreads stuffed with a delicious filling of Monterey cheese and chopped spinach.

Allergen: Dairy

Instructions: Place in microwave for 2-3 minutes; or transfer content to skillet and heat on low, 3 minsKeep chilled or frozen.  Use within 6 days after thaw

5. El Buen Comer

Molé con Pollo Tamales

Corn masa tamal with chicken mole

Allergen: Nuts

Instructions: Thaw in the refrigerator for 2 hours.  Place in a steamer for 25 minutes until the internal temp is 165F. Keep frozen, use within 6 months

Rajas con Queso Tamale

Corn masa tamal with cheese and poblano peppers

Allergen: Dairy

Instructions: Thaw in the refrigerator for 2 hours.  Place in a steamer for 25 minutes until the internal temp is 165F. Keep frozen, use within 6 months

6. Delicioso Creperie

Cubana Turnovers

Butter pastry filled with roasted pork, swiss cheese, red onions, pickles and mustard with herbs de provence

Allergen: Dairy, Egg, Wheat

Instructions: Thaw in the refrigerator, 2 hours. Place in oven 350F for 15 minutes. Keep frozen. Use within 3 months.

Veggie Turnovers with Zucchini, Squash, Roasted Corn, and Herbs de Provence

Butter pastry filled with zucchini, squash, roasted corn and herbs de Provence

Allergen: Dairy, Egg, Wheat

Instructions: Thaw in the refrigerator, 2 hours. Place in oven 350F for 15 minutes. Keep frozen. Use within 3 months.

7. El Pipila

Chiles Rellenos de Queso

Charbroiled, egg-battered chiles pasilla with queso and tomato sauce. Gluten Free.

Allergen: Dairy

Instructions: Reheat tomato sauce in a saucepan. Microwave chiles for 4 - 5 minutes. Keep refrigerated. Use within 2 days.

7. Taco Thai

Gaeng Pa - Chicken Jungle Curry

Coconut- free chicken curry with green beans, fingerroot, kaffir lime leaf, and Thai basil served with pandan infused rice.

Allergen: None

Instructions: Reheat curry in the microwave on high for 3 minutes or in a saucepan over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Keep frozen. Use within 1 month.

8. Besharam

Jeera Rice with Saag Paneer

Rice: Fragrant rice tempered with toasted cumin. Saag Paneer: Spinach cooked with onions, ginger, garlic, warm spices, and finished with Indian cheese. Vegan. Gluten-Free.

Allergen: None

Instructions: Microwave individually for 2 - 3 minutes. Keep refrigerated, use within 1 week.
